One does not become an ambassador on the day one boards a plane. One becomes an ambassador gradually, by understanding the meaning of the mission entrusted to them.
”
Properly preparing an ambassador is not simply a matter of organising their departure. It means giving them the means to make the most of their experience, to adapt to a new culture, to represent their club and country with dignity, and then to pass on what they have received.
OSE is not an international exchange agency.
It is a school of Existence.
This is why preparing an ambassador goes far beyond organising their stay.
The ambassador must understand why they are leaving.
They do not leave simply to practise their sport, continue their schooling or discover another country. They are entrusted with a mission of trust.
Throughout their stay, they will represent their club, their OSE Country and the values of Olympism.
Each ambassador prepares three projects that will progress together:
These three projects are equally important and just as concrete as one another.
The existential project is not limited to personal reflection. It takes concrete form through an ambassador's mission, entrusted by their club before departure. This mission gives meaning to the stay, guides the young person's observations, informs their actions throughout the exchange and invites them, on their return, to pass on what they have received.
The existential project is thus not simply added to the other two: it gives them unity.
Discovering another culture calls for curiosity, humility and the ability to adapt. The ambassador knows that they will not live exactly as they would at home. They will discover different habits, different ways of communicating, different ways of life and, at times, a different way of practising their sport.
Rather than comparing, they will seek first to understand.
Difference is not an obstacle: it is an asset.
The ambassador is never merely a beneficiary. They take a full part in the life of their club, their host family and their school.
They regularly keep the OSE community informed of their experience, contributing to the network's living library.
They understand that their personal adventure will become a resource for those who set out after them.
The return begins even before departure. The ambassador knows that they will come back changed. They are already preparing to share their experience, to support future ambassadors and to continue bringing the OSE spirit to life through their example.
The exchange does not end with the return to France.
It enters a new stage: that of passing it on.
An ambassador does not only prepare to leave. They prepare to become a person capable of receiving, growing and passing on.
