OSE at minima: the “30-day” process
An OSE Country does not begin when it sets up an organisation. It begins when it sends its first ambassador.
Sending an ambassador is not about arranging a trip. It means preparing a young person to live through a sporting, educational, human and existential experience that will change them for the long term. OSE’s role is to create the best possible conditions for this adventure to succeed.
The club identifies a young person who:
At this stage, a simple application form is enough.
OSE World looks for the best solution.
The normal principle of reciprocity applies.
OSE World asks that OSE Country whether it wishes to extend its activity to this new discipline. In this way, the network grows progressively.
OSE World looks for pioneers likely to set up a new OSE Country. This first exchange may become that country's founding exchange.
Together with the young person, their club and their OSE Country, OSE World looks for the most suitable solution. The priority always remains the same: enabling the young person to have a successful exchange.
Once the country has been selected:
The young person, their family, their club and the two OSE Countries finalise the practical arrangements together:
OSE provides the necessary documents. Nothing more.
The OSE Country organises an ambassador preparation day, based on content provided by OSE World. This day makes it possible to:
ALTIS: the horizon that unites us. Olympism as a means of education. The role of the ambassador.
The club formally hands the young person their mission. It sets out what is expected of them: before departure, during the stay, and on return. The young person officially becomes their club's ambassador.
The ambassador discovers the educational tools offered by OSE, designed to help them understand what they will experience and to turn it into a genuine journey of personal growth.
The young person learns about: their host country, club and family, the main cultural differences, and the practical aspects of their stay.
These two preparations take place in parallel.
Regularly sharing their adventure with the OSE community, to encourage, inform and inspire future ambassadors.
Being able to communicate freely and in complete confidence with their home OSE Country and OSE World, so as to be supported throughout their stay, share their achievements, express any difficulties and, if necessary, ask for help.
The ambassador departs. Their adventure begins. The first OSE ambassador is on a mission. The first OSE Country grows.
